VICEROY HOTEL

A 41,000 square meter development structured with reinforced concrete contains a 6 story, 221 room Hotel with 49 semi-detached and detached villas located on the beach front of Saadiyat Island, a new man made island 500 meters off the coast of Abu Dhabi. Saadiyat Island is a multi-faceted development offering a business hub for international commerce, a cultural center, beachfront tourism and waterfront homes.

Atmospheres in the hotel, villas and entertaining areas are unique, yet linked by a continous sense of serenity. The scale of communal space changes these atmospheres. The villas sit on peaceful courtyards around pools of water. As the communal spaces become smaller the pools becomes bigger replacing the communal space. The facade has a cavity containing a reflective pool to cool the interior as well as enhance the atmosphere with reflections of the water.
